Suspicious Swiss racers stopped on federal roads: police investigated in Freiburg
Dangerous driving behavior of young Swiss drivers causes a stir in the Black Forest
An alarming incident shook the idyllic region in the Black Forest when at least 14 drivers were suspected of highly motorized cars between the ages of 19 and 29, on Sunday, July 7, 2024, to have participated in an illegal motor vehicle race. The drivers, who mainly have Swiss citizenship, are said to have driven Swiss license plates.
The risky behavior of the suspects led to the traffic police because of the Rhine initiates and searched witnesses as well as possible victims. The journey led the group from Waldshut over various federal roads to the Schluchsee and back, with several risky maneuvers, such as overtaking on oncoming traffic, blocking of confluence and intersections as well as overtaking other road users.
The alleged main suspect, a 20-year-old driver, is also examined without a driving license. He was imposed on a security deposit of 6,000 euros.
The police were able to stop eight of the suspects at 3:15 p.m. at a control point on federal road 317 in Feldberg, while the remaining six were checked shortly afterwards at a control point in Todtnau-Fahl.
The police call up possible witnesses and victims to report on 07621 98000 and to contribute to clarifying the incident. Such dangerous driving behavior is not only a serious threat to public security, but also influences the reputation of the communities involved in the Black Forest.
