Shocking balance: 210 truck violations within 54 minutes on the A1!
On Monday, April 28th, the Bremen police carried out traffic controls from truck on the A1. The main goal of these measures was to comply with the ban on overtaking for trucks over 7.5 tons. Within 54 minutes, fine notices of 29,400 euros were imposed. A total of 210 violations of the ban on overtaking were found. The control took place at the Koppelweg transfer and was part of a focus campaign that was carried out in road traffic due to a high complaint and repeated dangerous situations.
The police point out that truck drivers who disregard the ban on overtaking cannot form a sufficient emergency lane, which leads to dangerous disabilities during emergency trips. The violations led to 210 administrative offense procedures and entries in the driving suitability register (Faer). The police emphasize the importance of the ban on overtaking for traffic safety, especially with a high volume of traffic.
additional traffic accidents
In a separate incident, an eight-year-old girl was hit by a car on Monday morning in Bremerhaven-Leherheide. The accident occurred around 7:38 a.m. when the girl crossed the pedestrian festival on Hans-Böckler-Straße. The 65-year-old driver drove east. The girl suffered injuries and was looked after by witnesses until an ambulance arrived. Then she was taken to a hospital.
In order to increase traffic safety, the ADAC informs that overtaking can be risky in many cases. Accident research shows that overtaking accidents lead 40% more often to life -threatening injuries. When carrying out overtaking maneuvers, it is important to observe the applicable rules. Overhauling is prohibited, among other things, if the traffic situation is unclear or traffic signs show this, such as ADAC. In addition, pedestrian crossing, stops of buses or trams and sections should not be overtaken with a limited perspective.
