Unemployment in the northern Black Forest: decline weak, crisis noticeable!
In the northern Black Forest, the labor market is still tense. The number of unemployed in the Nagold-Pforzheim agency district fell slightly from September to October, with 15,490 unemployed reported-a decline of 1.2 percent. In comparison to the previous year, however, unemployment rose by an alarming 14.2 percent. The unemployment rate fell to 4.4 percent, but was still 3.9 percent a year ago. Martina Lehmann, the head of the employment agency, emphasizes that the weak development is due to the tense economic situation, which results in more job losses and fewer new settings.
In October, 3,525 people reported new or unemployed again - an increase of 4.0 percent compared to the previous month. At the same time, 3,691 people were able to end their unemployment, which is a slight decline. Older employees are particularly affected: While unemployment in the under 20 year olds fell by 25.5 percent, it rose by 19.1 percent among the over 55-year-olds. In addition, short -time work has increased in the region; In June 2024, 5,540 employees were in short work, a significant increase compared to the previous year. The situation remains tense, and the future of the labor market in northern Black Forest is uncertain, reports www.schwarzwaelder-bote.de .
