Scandal around AfD boss Schledde: Money for list places? Court decides!
Lower Saxony's AfD boss Ansgar Schledde is under serious suspicion: Former AfD member Christopher Emden accuses him of having asked for money for promising list places. This explosive assertion was treated on Wednesday in the appeal procedure before the Higher Regional Court in Celle. Emden was not present, but was excused by his lawyer, which made the presiding judge skeptical. Another witness, a former AfD district chairman, claimed that Schledde had offered him a place for the European elections 2024, in exchange for the employment of "pseudo employees".
The allegations are not new, but they are now taking a dramatic turn. Before the state election in 2022, Emden had already stated that support for list places was offered in the AfD for payment. Schledde, who vehemently denied these allegations and referred to as "lies", could soon receive a default judgment in his favor, since Emden and his lawyer did not appear. The Hanover public prosecutor is also investigating illegal party financing against Schledde, while the State Court could decide on possible new elections on December 9.
