In the Wildgatter Oberrabenstein there is a joyful surprise: the European wildcat couple, which has been living together since the end of 2019, has again received youngsters. Four young animals were spotted in a litter box in mid -April, where they were closely cuddled with their mother. These Julis are the pride of the facility and can now also be admired by visitors.

The European wildcat is an endangered way and the birth of young animals in a wild gate is an important step to preserve these fascinating animals. After nine weeks of gestation, the female usually gives birth to three to five boys who are initially blind and helpless. The nurses in the Wildgatter ensure that the young animals will remain in their hiding place in the first few days before they are slowly presenting themselves to the world outside the litter box.

The Wildgatter Oberrabenstein is pleased to give visitors the opportunity to watch the wildcat family and to learn more about these domestic predators. The system is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the last admission at 5 p.m. This is a great opportunity to experience nature on our doorstep and recognize the importance of the protection of endangered species.
