Strong together: mentoring network for migrants in Germany

In Chemnitz there is an impressive network of 80 women who come from countries such as Syria and Ukraine. These women are not only specialists in professions such as chemistry or medicine, but also role models that are willing to share their experiences with new migrants. In doing so, they make a decisive contribution to facilitating the integration process in Germany.

The project, which recently completed its third phase, stands out through the active role of the mentors. These women have experience with integration themselves, which gives them a valuable perspective when it comes to helping others. They come from different professional fields and bring a wide range of skills and knowledge.

mentors as a key to successful integration

The mentors play a fundamental role by using their own experiences to facilitate other migrants access to German culture and society. "They were supported to pass on their own experience, knowledge or contacts to migrants," explains a project manager. This support not only includes formal training, but also the exchange of personal stories, which makes integration even more tangible.

For many of the mentors, it is a personal concern to help other women in similar situations. They know first -hand what challenges it needs to be overcome, be it the language, work culture or everyday bureaucratic hurdles. This creates an atmosphere of trust in which new migrants can open up and ask questions.

In addition to the mentors, numerous workshops and information events have established themselves that are tailored to the needs of the participants. Topics such as application training, language courses and the presentation of the German education system are on the agenda. These offers are not only informative, but also promote social contact and networking among women.

Another important aspect of the project is the networking of women with each other. They form a community that supports and motivates each other. In international understanding, the exchange of thoughts and experiences can help expand the cultural horizon and reduce prejudices.

The commitment of these women goes beyond the professional area. They also take care of the personal concerns of the migrants, help integration in schools or in neighborhoods and offer emotional support in difficult times. This creates not only professional, but also social networks that are of great benefit to everyone involved.

The example from Chemnitz shows that integration is a mutual relationship. It is not only important that migrants learn the German language and insert themselves into new social relationships, but also that society welcomes it and recognizes its skills. This project and the women who participate are a symbol of the power of community integration.
