Tariff dispute escalated: GDL rejects City-Bahn offer

industrial action at City-Bahn Chemnitz:

The collective bargaining between the GDL union and the City-Bahn in Chemnitz failed again. Despite an offer of the city railway to reduce working hours to 35 hours a week without reducing a removal, the GDL described the offer as a provocation. The union criticized that the supposed improvement would ultimately have to be financed by the GDL members themselves, which is not acceptable for them. The union chair Claus Weselsky emphasized that such a procedure would not be tolerated. This is not the first time that the city railway and the GDL are involved in an industrial action, there have already been 15 strikes.

The City-Bahn works in Chemnitz and on various railway lines in Central and West Saxony and employs around 185 people. Despite the failure of the collective bargaining, there has been no official statement from the company on the current developments.
