The main suspect in the murder of the nine -year -old Valeriia from Döbeln, Saxony, was handed over to German police officers by Czech officials on the border in Petrovice. The 36-year-old man is expected to be transported to Chemnitz, where he is brought to court. The arrest warrant is expected to be opened there and he can comment on the allegation. The man from Moldova is suspected of having murdered nine -year -old girls at the beginning of June. There is no evidence of sexual abuse.

The community of Döbeln shows solidarity

On June 3, Valeriia disappeared on the way to school in Döbeln, which deeply shaken the community. After an intensive search, her body was found in the undergrowth of a forest. The 36-year-old suspect, who was the former partner of Valeriia's mother, was then searched internationally and arrested in Prague on June 14th. The exact motive for the girl's death remains unclear, since the public prosecutor has not yet given any information.

Valeriia had fled to Germany with her mother before the war in Ukraine and attended a primary school in Döbeln. After her tragic death, she was buried in her old home Pawlohrad in eastern Ukraine, where she was able to say goodbye to the community. It is to be hoped that the community of Döbeln will be together in this difficult time and support the relatives of Valeriia.
