Traffic calming in Bahnstrasse: Residents demand stop for vandalism!

The controversial traffic calming on Schönauer Bahnstraße in Chemnitz continues, despite massive vandalism! Mayor Michael Stötzer (52, Greens) announced: "A demolition is currently not up for debate". The city has re -established and secured the damaged planters, which have been part of the traffic attempt since the end of May. The aim is to slow through traffic to the Südring and protect the residents from truck traffic.

However, the attempt was already three times the goal of Vandalen, which inflicted considerable damage to the buckets planted with trees. The authorities put the costs of vandalism at an impressive 8000 euros! City councilor Yvonne Kilian (45, FDP) expressed her assumption that the perpetrators could not come from the neighborhood, but only drive through. Nevertheless, it remains optimistic and supports the continuation of the project, which has not yet developed all potential to reduce through traffic. The fight against vandalism is thus a challenge in this explosive traffic attempt, which relies on a gentle means to calm traffic. Details on the project and vandalism are to find here .
