On Sunday evening, several small embankment fires along the railway lines between Chemnitz, Hohenstein-Ernstthal and Glauchau ensured disabilities in train traffic. The fire brigade and the police were on duty to extinguish the fires and ensure the safety of travelers.

The fires broke out in a total of five different places, including in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Glauchau, Niederlungwitz and Chemnitz-Siegmar. Jörg Reuter, head of the Chemnitz Federal Police, confirmed the incidents to the Free Press on Sunday evening.

The incident led to considerable restrictions on rail traffic, which led to inconvenience for commuters and travelers. The exact cause of the embankment is not yet known, but is examined by the authorities to prevent similar incidents in the future
