The Samba Festival Coburg 2024-a festival for the senses

From next Friday (July 12, 2024) up to and including Sunday (July 14, 2024), the annual Samba festival will take place in Coburg again. This colorful event attracts around 150,000 visitors to the city and promises an eventful weekend full of music, dance and joie de vivre.

Samba culture and Brazilian flair since 1992

Since 1992, Coburg has been hosting the second largest Samba festival in the world outside of Brazil. Around 100 groups from different countries take part to offer visitors an authentic experience of the Brazilian Samba culture. The festival has already been awarded several renowned prizes and stands for tolerance, musical diversity and joy in life.

from street dance to peace drums: The varied program

The festival starts on Friday at 5 p.m. and ends on Sunday at 8 p.m. Visitors can expect a wide range of activities, including competitions, workshops, drum and dance demonstrations as well as street samba. Special highlights are the appearances of the famous Samba artists Gaby Mendes and Bruna Menezes, who traveled from Rio de Janeiro, as well as the Friedenstrum performance on Sunday morning in the Schlossplatz.

A special highlight this year is the "Festa de Iemanjá" on Friday evening in the congress house, in which visitors can enjoy the magical atmosphere of the Samba world in white clothing. "Let’s Dance" stars Renata and Valentin Lusin will also appear at the opening ceremony of the festival and will give an autograph session in the VR bank after the performance.

Interested parties can either purchase tickets for the Samba festival online or on site. The 3-day ticket costs 37 euros and offers access to all events of the weekend. Alternatively, day tickets are available for 26 euros (Friday), 33 euros (Saturday) and 18 euros (Sunday), which can only be purchased on the festival site.
