In the night of August 13th to 14th, 2024, the Wittlich police inspection carried out a number of traffic controls in the urban area. The focus of these measures was on the subject of alcohol and drugs in road traffic, an important aspect of traffic safety.
traffic safety in focus
The high risk of traffic accidents caused by drug and alcohol consumption makes such controls essential. Alcohol and drugs paralyze the responsiveness of a driver and increase the risk of life -threatening injuries and fatal accidents. The police are therefore actively committed to clarification and prevention.
attacks during controls
- In a 37-year-old man, physical signs were found that indicated the consumption of narcotics. As a result, he was taken from a blood sample.
- A 17-year-old driver showed signs of alcoholization with a value of just over 0.85 per thousand, which led to the prohibition of his onward journey.
legal consequences
Those affected must now expect legal consequences. The 37-year-old driver faces an administrative offense procedure because of his journey under the influence of drugs. The young driver will also have to answer for drunkenness at the wheel, which is a serious administrative offense in Germany.
The relevance of such controls
These incidents illustrate how important constant measures are to combat drug and alcohol abuse in road traffic. Especially among young drivers, the influence of alcohol and drugs can have devastating consequences, not only for themselves, but also for other road users.
common responsibility
The fight against drug and alcohol abuse in road traffic not only requires police measures, but also the commitment of the entire community. Enlightenment campaigns and growing awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of intoxicating substances are essential.
