Climate crisis acute: CO2 values climb incessantly-what now?

Genf, Schweiz - The alarming numbers are there: The greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere reaches new records and sends a threatening signal for our climate! According to the latest UN report, the CO2 concentration has increased by shocking 11.4 percent since 2004. In 2023, the value was 420 ppm (parts per million) - that is 151 percent of the level before industrialization. Above all, man -made emissions and devastating forest fires have contributed to this increase, and nature no longer seems to come: The ability of the forests to absorb CO2 could also have decreased.

WMO general secretary Celeste Saulo warns: "We are clearly not on the right track to limit global warming to less than two degrees." With these dramatic developments in mind, the global community will soon meet the next climate conference in Azerbaijan. But time is urging: CO2 has an extremely long service life in the atmosphere, and even an immediate decline in emissions would maintain the already observed temperature level for many decades. How long can we ignore this? You can find more information about this here .
