collision between child and car in Herbern: a tragic event that shakes the community

On Saturday, July 13th, 2004, a serious accident occurred on Rankenstrasse in Herbern, in which a child and a car collided. The Bernhardstraße/ Rankenstrasse intersection was the scene of the tragic incident, which was at 5:55 p.m.

A group of children crossed the street when another child suddenly crossed the street on a bike. Eyewitnesses report that the child's traffic lights showed red. At the same time, a 63-year-old woman from Werne started without notice the child driving on the bike. There was a terrible collision in which the child was injured and had to be taken to a hospital.

This sad event has shaken the entire community and once again illustrates the need for increased attention in road traffic, especially near schools and playgrounds.

It is of crucial importance that all road users, be it on foot, by bike or in the car, always keep the traffic rules and pay attention to their surroundings. This is the only way to avoid such tragic accidents.
