Royal surprise in bird shooting: monastery man triumphs!

Am Walkenbrückentor has a remarkable moment at this year's bird shooting, which inspired the shooting association and the community alike. Colonel Florian Klostermann has gained the royal dignity with his rapid shooting game in the afternoon of the festival. After only 45 minutes and the 145th shot, the artistically decorated wooden bird fell off the shelf. Klostermann's competitor, Ralf Hessel and Jan Weyers, had to give up, but that didn't seem to cloud the joy of the new king in the slightest

This victory did not come out of the blue; Rather, the decision had been made shortly before. "It was a very short -term, spontaneous decision," said Klostermann, while his wife Steffi is proud at his side. "Almost a week ago she had the idea and I thought she was great. And now we're here!" This spontaneous decision tells of a high motivation and a strong feeling of community that strongly shape the rifle system.

a festival full of tradition and joy

The royal couple, consisting of Florian Klostermann and his wife Stephanie, experienced not only the cheering of the spectators, but also the applause of their rifle comrades. Klostermann, who was entrusted with his new duties, obviously had fun and allowed himself a little joke by sending his shooters to the parade twice. Colonel Alexander Ruthmann, high on horseback, joked that "one or the other still had to work on his body tension", which led to cheerful laughter along the audience.

The support from the 2nd company under the direction of Mike Brinkmann was particularly loud, because Klostermann is a member of this unit. Another highlight was the traditional custom "the robbery of the Sabiners", in which the bachelors were allowed to get aside from the audience. This friendly gesture was another highlight, which the Mayor Eliza Diekmann-Cloppenburg also attended from the town hall staircase.

The festivities went into the next round after the official part when the participants marched to the bird pole, because shooting was not over yet. The announcement of the other dignitaries was still pending: Volker Höcke was proclaimed the star king and Tine Kestermann was appointed the new champagne queen. The shooters and their guests ended this eventful day at a twilight pint in the Kolpinghaus.

The following day the festival was rounded off with a morning drink at Mersmann. "The most beautiful date for the board, because we no longer have any obligations and can celebrate very relaxed," remarked Markus Eckrodt, the second chairwoman and visibly satisfied with the course of the shooting festival. The royal ball in honor of the outgoing royal couple Jan Brüggemann and Dagmar Dieker, who took place on Friday evening, was another highlight of the festival, which lasted until the early hours of the morning.
