Cuxhaven in penguin fever: final sale in the only penguin museum!
Cuxhaven (dpa) - Looking for a penguin? The now iconic penguin museum in Cuxhaven will sell its collection and closes its doors. Operator Birgit Berends reported that after less than one hour after the start of the special penguin sale, "the bear is going". With more than 26,000 penguin figures, including cuddly toys, ties and cups, the museum is considered the largest of its kind worldwide. The last day of sale is November 9th, and for everyone who does not make it to the museum, there is also the opportunity to browse the online shop.
Berends and your partner Stefan Kirchhoff have been running the museum since 2009 and had to make the decision to massively reduce the collection, since the constant work and the lack of free time - no weekend in 15 years - are hardly wearable. According to Berends, the collection is not completely dissolved, but many pieces are sold to make the home look "normal" again. The museum will remain open until November 2, and the operators hope to attract a last swing to penguin enthusiasts with the final sale, as www.radiomuelheim.de reports .
