Renate Baumgarten (90) and Werner Heuer (73) experienced an unforgettable day in Cuxhaven, made possible by the wish car of the Lower Saxony Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund. Both live in the Sonnenhof senior center in Obernkirchen and are seriously ill. Her last journey together, which was originally supposed to lead to the Steinhuder Meer, became a great experience with fish and shop, while they were well looked after by the team of the wish car.

The highlight of the day came on the beach when they were surprisingly symbolically married. Accompanied by the famous wedding march and with a colorful bouquet for the bride, both unanimously explained: "Yes, I want." The day trip gave her to the fullest and gave them the strength to remain optimistic despite her serious illnesses. "I've never had such a nice day in life," emphasizes Werner Heuer.
