Storm flood risk on the North Sea: Ex-hurricane Kirk brings chaos!

A storm, triggered by the ex-hurricane "Kirk", rages on the Lower Saxony coast and brings dangerous floods. Experts warn of floods that could be up to 75 centimeters above the normal scale, especially during the tidal flood in the evening. The warnings of the German Weather Service (DWD) have intensified because the coastal regions of heavy gusts of wind are affected by speeds up to 88 km/h.

The forecast water levels that are to be reached at the coastal cities are particularly worrying: Cuxhaven (6:07 p.m., +0.75 m), Bensersiel (4:52 p.m., +0.6 m) and Bremerhaven (6:17 p.m., +0.6 m). According to the Lower Saxony state company for water management, coasts and nature conservation, the risk situation is acute and requires special care. While the storm front shakes the coastal region, the inside of the country is gradually declining, which makes the situation on the North Sea particularly threatening. The effects of this weather are currently profound and should be taken seriously by all residents. Further information is at www.kreiszeitung.de available.
