Excitement after Berbner's comment: Germany's energy transition failed?

In a heated contribution to opinion in the "Tagessehemen", NDR journalist Thomas Berbner sharply attacked Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Minister of Economy Robert Habeck. Berbner accuses Scholz of having contributed to the loss of thousands of Germans because he allowed Habeck to switch off the last nuclear power plants. This was "against every meaning and mind", and Habeck has thus operated Germany's de -industrialization. In the ARD show, his comment caused outrage, especially among the basic green ones, which sensed a tendency. Numerous spectators expressed their displeasure on the Internet and some even called for a complaint with the press council, since they saw the comment as a defamation, such as berlin-live.de reported.

Berbner's statement that the proportion of nuclear energy in Germany is only 6 percent and that electricity prices have even dropped since the atomic power plants have been completely dropped, but is questioned by a fact check. Critics note that industrial production has been declining since 2018 and that many leading economists are demanding a reform of the debt brake to enable more public investments. For the spectators, the comment caused mixed reactions, and in view of an upcoming TV duel between Scholz and Friedrich Merz, Greens politicians even raise questions about fair voter mobilization, as in another report by ruhrbarone.de means

Only recently also spoke in person for the maintenance of nuclear energy and described the nuclear phase -out as a national error that would not have found any international imitators. He warned that Germany's CO2 emissions could continue to increase if Habeck should actually actively use coal-fired power plants to replace gas. This controversial debate shows the deep trenches between the political camps in Germany, while the call for a clear and responsible energy policy is getting louder.
