Bel canto inspires in Asti: Sing with gospel and pop for Biberach!

The Belcanto vocal ensemble's concert tour to Asti, Italy, from May 29th to June 1st was a complete success. During this trip, the focus was particularly on the choir concert on May 31st in the Church of San Pietro. Under the title “Concerto Corale delle Città gemelle Biberach & Asti” a varied program was performed that included gospel, pop songs and German songs. The welcome was given by choir president Professor Marcella Cairo, who emphasized the years of friendly ties between Biberach and Asti. Mr. Mela from the Asti Cultural Office and Ms. Bologna from the town twinning committee also brought greetings, all of whom contributed to the warm atmosphere, as Schwäbische.de reports.

The concert was divided into three parts, in which modern pop songs were performed alongside classic gospel songs. Particularly noteworthy is the solo voice of Maestro Gianluca Fasano on “All of Me love all of You” by John Legend. German songs, such as “All around me is joy” by Justin Heinrich Knecht, were also very well received. Cantor Ralf Klotz did not miss the opportunity to send greetings from Biberach to the audience, supported by the translation by Ileana Colla, an expert in town twinning. The final part of the evening featured impressive pieces such as “Agnus Dei” by Jakob de Haan and Handel’s “Hallelujah”. As Cities Partner Biberach reports, the audience thanked them with standing applause and joyful shouts of Bravo.

An evening of friendship

The evening ended not only musically, but also socially with a buffet prepared together by the Coro Polifonico. During this pleasant gathering, those present exchanged gifts and discussed the cultural ties that twinning creates. The excellent organization by the Städtepartner Biberach e.V. association, which made a significant contribution to the success of this trip, was particularly clear, as was the financial support from the city of Biberach, which Kulturinsz mentions.

A special highlight was the vocal ensemble's subsequent excursion to Turin, where the travelers were able to explore the tourist beauties of this city, which is known for its Roman history and the impressive Turin Cathedral. This combination of artistic expression and valuable cultural encounters seems to round off the trip to Asti perfectly. It is also certain that the concert program will also be performed in Biberach in the fall, which increases anticipation for further important cultural events in the region.
