Hertha BSC on the crossroads: Change of bond decisive for license!
Hertha BSC faces challenges in connection with a Nordic Bond bond of 40 million euros, the repayment of which is due in November. On April 7, 2025, a written procedure for changing the bond conditions was initiated, but it turns out to be problematic.
The first attempt to change the bond conditions has failed because the required participation of creditors failed to do so. The association is now under pressure to win the consent of two thirds of the participating creditors in order to be able to enforce the proposed changes. The date for the announcement of the result of this procedure is June 3, 2025.
Details about the changes
The other proposed changes in the bond conditions include the conversion of the interest payments from quarterly to annual and the possibility of a complete or partial repayment from November 8, 2025. These adjustments are designed to take into account the current financial circumstances of the club, especially after falling to the 2nd Bundesliga.
Currently Hertha BSC does not have the funds to repay the bond, which endangers the licensing for the coming season by the German Football League (DFL). The DFL has not yet given a license, since a condition must be met until shortly after the result publication.
financing concept of the club
In cooperation with several partners,Hertha has developed a financing concept to ensure the necessary funds. This is crucial to comply with the club's financial obligations and to secure the further continued existence and planning in the 2nd Bundesliga. The latest developments show that the association is under financial pressure and that every decision could have far -reaching consequences for the future of the club.
In a further step, the second written procedure for changing the base is now not used for the minimum participation clause, in the hope of moving more creditors to consent. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen to what extent this new approach will be successful.
For more information and contact options for questions about the bond, interested parties can consult the club's official communications. The need to carefully examine the published documents and risk factors to make informed decisions is particularly emphasized.
