Blue license plates – young people flee from the police on scooters!

An incident in Güglingen caused a stir on Tuesday afternoon when a police patrol noticed a motor scooter with two young riders on Brackenheimer Straße around 3:20 p.m. It was noticed that the vehicle only had an expired, blue insurance license plate. Instead of following the police's instructions, the driver fled with his passenger in the direction of Brackenheim and set off on a rapid journey over field and meadow paths that led through Frauenzimmern, Stockheim and finally Güglingen. However, the police authorities ultimately decided to call off the pursuit in order not to endanger the safety of everyone involved. The fleeing young people, presumably male and between 14 and 16 years old, wore dark clothing and rode a black motor scooter Stimme.de reports.

This incident in Güglingen is part of a worrying series of escape attempts by young people on scooters in Baden-Württemberg. In recent weeks there have been similar situations in Freiberg am Neckar and Krauchenwies where young people fled from police checks. In Freiberg, for example, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old fled for unknown reasons. When the driver noticed the police car, he accelerated and lost control as they both fell. The 17-year-old then continued on foot while his 16-year-old friend was arrested at the scene of the accident. Both suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment on site. In Krauchenwies, however, there was a 15-year-old at the wheel who fled because he had an expired license plate and without a driver's license. He also ended up in a ditch and was arrested by the police n-tv.de reports.

The background to the escape

The question arises as to what is behind these escapes. Minor offenses or just a healthy shot of adrenaline? The fact that several incidents are occurring in such a short period of time could indicate a worrying trend among young people. Because in escapes like in Güglingen, not only your own life is at risk, but also that of other road users.

The police in Güglingen are therefore calling on all witnesses who can provide information about the black painted scooter or the young people involved to contact the Lauffen police station on 07133 2090. It is crucial to investigate such incidents and find possible contact points for the affected young people in order to avoid similar situations in the future.
