Inspiring world of lights: Stellar Sanctuary” in the heart of Karlsruhe

In the middle of the picturesque backdrop of Karlsruhe's market square, the Evangelical City Church has had a very special attraction to offer since August 14, 2023: the art installation “Stellar Sanctuary”. This impressive light show, created by the Hungarian artist group Maxin10sity, will be on display until September 14, 2025. The best part? Daily visits are free!

The installation impresses with its sophisticated projection technology, which is based on a “haze” – i.e. stage fog. Equipped with three movable projectors, haze generators and 24 side spotlights, “Stellar Sanctuary” immerses the church in a fascinating play of light that stimulates the senses and takes visitors into another world. Especially at dusk, when the installation unfolds its greatest splendor, it becomes clear how creative and technically skilled the group of artists worked.

Opening times and events

Visitors can view the installation every day in August from 8:30 p.m. to 10:40 p.m., and even until 11:40 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. From August 19th, the start time will be brought forward to 8:00 p.m., and from September 2nd the show will start at 7:00 p.m. (except on September 5th and 12th). An additional attraction is the musical supporting program “KLANGKALEIDOSKOP”, which begins every Monday an hour before the light show. On September 5th and 12th, the event will also be enriched by “Light Thoughts”, led by Pastor Claudia Rauch.

Stellar and PayPal: A future-oriented connection

A completely different but equally exciting topic is the planned launch of PayPal USD (PYUSD) on the Stellar network. According to information from Stellar, this stablecoin will stand for fast and inexpensive cross-border payments. Users are offered the opportunity to benefit from improved payment solutions and financing options - the focus should be on small and medium-sized companies in particular.

“The integration of PYUSD on the Stellar network opens up new options alongside existing platforms such as Ethereum and Solana,” said May Zabaneh, VP at PayPal. This could significantly improve liquidity and financing options for companies through payment financing (PayFi). The CEO of the Stellar Development Foundation, Denelle Dixon, also emphasizes the widespread availability of PYUSD in over 170 countries. With this, Stellar is taking a big step towards a more efficient and transparent financial landscape.

However, before PYUSD can enter the market, it still needs approval from the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). As of May 14, 2025, the authority has not yet approved this step. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how developments surrounding this innovative financing solution will unfold.
