Niederwasser, Deutschland - On Tuesday evening, a two -year -old boy was missing in Hornberg, which resulted in a large -scale search from the Offenburg police in the Black Forest. The boy had probably stayed on his property in the Niedergieß street before ran into a nearby forest. The police officers had to organize comprehensive use during the difficult conditions shaped by darkness and cold. Around 500 helpers were involved, including around 200 volunteers, members of the fire brigade, the police and the German Red Cross (DRK), as well as over 50 rescue dog handlers.
The search started in the afternoon and lasted about six hours. Two police helicopters and thermal imaging cameras were also used in the efforts to search an area of around 2.5 square kilometers. In addition, divers were requested as a precaution because ponds are located in the forest area. This shows the great seriousness of the situation that the emergency services had to cope with.

around 6:30 p.m. the boy was discovered on a wild camera of a hunting tenant. Later he was found at around 11 p.m. by a strip crew of the Offenburg police station on the way. Fortunately, the boy had survived the period of several hours on the side of the path without injuries until the help arrived. Simon Schmitt, the head of the Haslach police station, said overwhelmed by the cohesion of the population and thanked the volunteers for their tireless efforts. Hornberg Mayor Marc Winzer actively supported the search on site and shared the concern of the parents.
