Snap shots of fear: Murse and murder cases from BW uncovered!

In the ZDF program "File number XY ... unresolved", which was recently broadcast, two significant criminal cases from Baden-Württemberg were presented. The program led to numerous information for the police in Stuttgart, which already followed the first clues to the cases.

The first case refers to an unknown young man who asked two eight -year -old girls in early June 2022 and pressed one girl while the other was escaping. An attentive passer -by informed the police who helped find the perpetrator. The perpetrator's DNA was secured, and according to the police there was a goal: just three months after this first act, the man is said to have attacked another girl, nine years old, in Bruchsal, although in the end of September 2022 it was only when the attempt remained. The police suspect that the perpetrator has a local reference to the region.

Another murder case causes a sensation

The second case is about a brutal murder that occurred on September 18, 2016 in Heidenheim. The landlord of a bistro was involved in a dispute that was fatal: he was shot four times in his head and died at the scene while his sister was injured by a foray shot. The perpetrator sought is the 43-year-old husband of the sister who fled after the crime. His vehicle was found on the evening of the crime, but there is no trace of him. Europol is now involved in the search and the Ellwangen public prosecutor has advertised a reward of 4,000 euros for information on the arrest of the perpetrator.

Although the ZDF broadcast could potentially useful information about this case, this was not commented on by the police. It remains to be seen whether the reporting on these serious crimes will have an impact on the investigation.

context on youth crime and abuse

The incidents shed light on a bigger problem in the field of child abuse and youth crime, which becomes clear in the police crime statistics (PKS) 2022. A total of 15,520 cases of sexual child abuse were registered this year, which remains stable compared to the previous year. The increase in representations and youth pornography is alarming, which has increased by 10.3 % to over 48,800 cases. Particularly worrying is the increase in suspect minors who act in this context.

Holger Münch, President of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), emphasizes the need to save IP addresses for investigations. In addition, abuse officer Kerstin Claus demands new media education approaches and a national strategy to combat sexual violence against children and adolescents. The current status as well as the legal framework conditions must be revised in order to take into account future developments in the digital world and to ensure the safety of children and adolescents on the Internet, as well as clarify the advice on the adaptation of Section 184b of the Criminal Code.

social responsibility to protect children in the digital world is increasing with the growing use of social media. The events related to criminal cases and the statistical developments illustrate that there is more than ever to protect children from attacks and the increasing risk of abuse.
