In a dramatic incident in Karlsruhe, a 35-year-old man was hit and injured by a tram on Wednesday morning. Around 10:50 a.m., the man on Mathystrasse entered the tracks without paying attention to the approaching train. Despite the emergency braking immediately initiated, the tram captain was no longer able to prevent a collision. The pedestrian was hit on the side, fell and suffered a headplace wound.
emergency services immediately brought him to a clinic where he was treated on an outpatient basis. Fortunately, all of the trams remained intact. The driver and eyewitnesses received support from a crisis intervention team. In view of this incident, the police urgently warns of the dangers of level crossings and appeals to all pedestrians to use the highest caution when crossing tracks.
