Kretschmann's visit to Breisgau: Future projects in viticulture in focus!

On June 26, 2025, there will be a high-profile visit to the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district: Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann has announced his visit. Baden-Württemberg reports that Kretschmann is looking forward to getting to know the region's lively towns and impressive landscape. During this visit he would like to find out how people design their surroundings and deal with the challenges, especially in viticulture.

District Administrator Dr. Christian Ante is also pleased about the upcoming visit and plans to demonstrate to the Prime Minister how the district is positioning itself for the future. The visit begins at the state winery and the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald Landscape Conservation Association on Blankenhornsberg, one of the first points of contact for the Prime Minister.

A look at the state winery

The state winery, which has existed since 1995, has developed into an important training location in the field of viticulture. It is not only a center for practical training, but also a place where research and practice are closely linked at the Freiburg State Viticulture Institute. The Viticulture Institute promotes the exchange of knowledge and experiences and ensures that the region is highly valued in terms of both the quality and diversity of its wines.

The landscape conservation association, which was founded in 2012, also plays a central role. In doing so, he supports farmers and communities in caring for nature. Since its founding, numerous landscape conservation projects have been funded with a total of around 3.2 million euros, comprising around 400 measures annually. In addition to protecting nature, the LEV's focus is on Natura 2000 areas, where it offers support with compensatory measures and site searches.

Culture and community in Breisgau

After the visit to the state winery, the Ursulinenhof in Oberried is on Kretschmann's program. This facility is supported by the Bürgergemeinschaft Oberried e.V. and is characterized as a “caring community” that takes responsibility for older people in the region. Social projects like the Ursulinenhof promote social cohesion and the integration of different generations - a concept that is particularly valued in the Breisgau region.

The region is characterized not only by its wines, but also by its picturesque ambience. With town houses, half-timbered buildings and charming town halls, they welcome both locals and tourists. The Breisgau stretches between Freiburg in the south and Herbolzheim in the north, which is considered a liveable and enjoyable area and where vines have been grown for over 1,000 years. Breisgau is a popular destination for nature lovers and everyone who appreciates good gastronomy.

All of these facets make Breisgau a unique place that delights visitors with its diversity and beauty. Prime Minister Kretschmann can look forward to an exciting and informative day in this lively region.
