Waldhof Mannheim: Glawogger remains coach after successfully staying in the league!
After a nerve-racking season, the fans of SV Waldhof Mannheim can breathe a sigh of relief. trainer Dominik Glawogger remains loyal to the club after reaching an agreement with his former employer, SSV Jahn Regensburg. The 35-year-old has done a great job in the last few months and secured relegation in the third division, which has given him recognition and support in Mannheim.
Sports managing director Gerhard Zuber was visibly satisfied with the agreement. “Dominik played a big role in our staying in the league,” praised Zuber and emphasized how important Glawogger’s contribution was to the team’s positive development. Under his leadership, the team averaged 1.33 points from six games and finished the season in 16th place - three points above the relegation zone.
A clear step forward
It was an eventful spring when Glawogger took over the coaching position in Mannheim after he already had a contract with Regensburg. But the circumstances have changed and the agreement on the transfer fee is in the low six-figure range, which results from the cooperation between Mannheim and Regensburg. Glawogger, who previously held the office of Bernhard Trares took over, will tackle the coming challenges in the third league.
But while Mannheim is working on the leadership, this change is not only important for SV Waldhof. In the third division there is a lot of movement, especially among other clubs. VfL Osnabrück is looking to separate Marco Antwerp still a new coach, while Timo Schultz from St. Pauli is considered a potential successor.
Changes in the league
Another topic that is affecting the football landscape in Germany is the possible change of Heiner Backhaus, who is about to transfer to Eintracht Braunschweig. This highlights the difficulties faced by the league's teams. Alemannia Aachen is already looking for a suitable successor for Backhaus and has brought well-known names such as Dimitrios Grammozis, Ismail Atalan and Ugur Inceman into discussion.
The series of changes in the third division shows that the teams are prepared to make bold decisions in order to better realize their sporting ambitions. Borussia Dortmund II is also under pressure after coach Jan Zimmerman asked to terminate the contract. He had just turned things around and established the U23s in the league, but his outstanding commitments are also still open.
The coming season will be exciting, both for Mannheim and for the competition. With Dominik Glawogger staying on, Waldhof is strengthening its position and giving itself the opportunity to grow further. It will be interesting to see how the teams in the league develop and what surprises the football year 2025 will bring us.
