Construction of the B19 bypass in Untergröningen: Finally it starts!
Construction of the B19 bypass in Untergröningen: Finally it starts!
Untergröningen, Deutschland - On March 5, 2025, there is gratifying news for the transport infrastructure in Untergröningen. The groundbreaking for the partial bypass of the B 19 is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2025. The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport has already given the approval for the replacement of two bridges, which is to significantly relieve the flow of traffic. The execution planning is currently being prepared and a necessary Europe -wide tender is in the starting blocks so that the construction project can be implemented quickly, such as Schwäbische Post reported
The government president Susanne Bay emphasizes that the bypass offers an excellent opportunity to redesign the town center. The planning of this bypass goes back to 1933. To make room, the municipality of Abtsgmünd acquired and demolished the “Haus Kießling” building. Rocks on the steep slope above the cooker banks also require the attachment of rockfall protection networks, whereby the order has already been awarded for this.
Details on the construction project
The existing bridge on the "Gröninger Markt" is demolished, while the bridge in Hallerstrasse is preserved for foot and bicycle traffic. The construction period for the redesign of the B 19 is estimated to be around 2.5 years. In the event of a successful construction in late autumn 2025, the traffic could be led around Untergröningen from mid -2028, as is planned in the planning. The new federal road will run east of the center of the town and bypass the inner -city hairpin bends. The investment of the Federal Republic of Germany for the construction of the two bridges and the street mall is around 12.5 million euros.
In parallel to these news, the B 19 between Untergröningen and Sulzbach-Laufen is also being renovated. This measure started on Monday, May 22, 2023 and is expected to last until Friday, September 1, 2023. The renovation extends over an approximately 6.4 kilometer section that is characterized by road damage. Here, the asphalt cover layers are renewed, cracks and displacement are remedied. In addition, the sidewalk between Sulzbach and Laufen is widened to a walking and bike path, such as Regional Presidium Stuttgart reported.- The renovation work is carried out in four construction phases:
- Sulzbach (from K 2635) to Laufen (Heerberg)
- Laufen (Heerberg) to Laufen (Ernst-Hölzle-Straße)
- Laufen (Ernst-Hölzle-Straße) to Laufen (K 2636)
- running (K 2636) to Untergröningen (in the men's meadows)
Derinations for in -depth traffic have already been signposted. In the direction of Aalen, these include a detour from Gaildorf via the B 298 to Gschwend, then continue via the L 1080 to Abtsgmünd. For the opposite direction, the traffic from Abtsgmünd is via the L 1080 to Gschwend and then diverted to Gaildorf via the B 298. During the full closures during the Pentecost and summer holidays, public passenger transport (public transport) is generally preserved.
climate protection and infrastructure planning
Developments in the transport infrastructure also raise questions about climate protection. Environmental associations such as the federal government criticize the conventional processes of federal traffic planning (BVWP). They require a systematic review to meet the requirements of climate and nature conservation. A study has shown that the previous planning has not been adapted to new legal requirements. Critics see this a danger to future generations, since road construction projects that stand in the way of the climate boons are to be named and deleted in the review process, as in the press release of the BUND is required.
The ongoing projects in Untergröningen are an important step towards a future -proof transport infrastructure, but it will be crucial how the balance between traffic development and environmental protection is designed.
