An operation was triggered in Reutlingen yesterday that kept the police and emergency services on their toes. At around 12:10 p.m. there was an incident on Wörthstrasse that occurred against the background of a possible relationship dispute. The argument developed into a physical altercation between two men and a woman, and a 25-year-old man was injured. According to gea.de, the police initially assumed dangerous bodily harm.
The injured person was immediately transported to the Steinenberg Clinic by emergency services. However, the severity of their injuries remains unknown. The suspect, a 22-year-old man in sporty clothing, told the emergency services that he initially hid in an apartment building. The arrest took place without resistance at around 1:30 p.m., but the knife allegedly used has not yet been found.
Protective measures and investigations
Police used protective equipment and a service dog to search for the suspect. Numerous emergency services were on site, including five police cars as well as two ambulances and an emergency vehicle. A police operations manager and the emergency services were also on site to coordinate the situation. Wörthstrasse had to be completely closed for more than an hour in order not to hinder the rescue and investigative work.
Investigations into the exact course of the crime are currently underway and criminal proceedings are being initiated against the arrested suspect. The police believe that the incident took place in a personal context.
