Fraud on the phone: Senior in Mannheim brought almost thousands of euros!

A torn phone scale is up to mischief in Mannheim! A senior in Jahnstrasse received a call from a supposed police officer on Tuesday afternoon who claimed that two criminals were nearby - with the address of the senior in their possession. The fraudster made the older gentleman to withdraw several thousand euros from his bank. Fortunately, an attentive bank employee noticed the strange transaction and asked some inquiries, causing the fraud to be uncovered.

But that was not all - during the day at the Hockenheim police station, four more reports about the wrong police officers! The criminal police have now initiated investigations. The police urge to warn: Extreme caution is advised with such calls! Do not let yourself be pushed, write down the data of the caller and discuss with relatives in case of doubt. Remember: the real police never ask about their money or valuables! If you suspect fraud, you should contact the police immediately.
