Herdwangen, Deutschland - The summer tournament of Donaueschingen opened its gates last weekend in bright sunshine. The venue was the idyllic lawn, which presented itself in a impeccable state on both tournament days. This is not only an honor for the association, but also a sign of the valuable work that is done here to promote fairness and camaraderie in equestrian sport.
The best performance of the competitions were also appreciated accordingly. In the large price of the show jumpers, the rider Marcus Irion and Lisa Würth took second and third place behind Wieber. The tournament in Donaueschingen was not the only event that took place at the weekend. Around 300 riders showed an impressive performance at the horse performance show of the RV Herdwangen-Oberndorf, where the jumping test class M* formed the climax. Here, too, Christian Wieber was successful and won his horse "Farina for Fire", while Meike Rösch and Leopold Glatz took second and third place. These numerous events visited show that the passion for equestrian sport in the region is deeply rooted and finds more and more followers, as the data of the German Equestrian Association prove: there are a total of 2.32 million rider in Germany.
A look at the current trends shows that the female riders in particular are in the majority: 78 percent of regularly active riders are women who mostly live in smaller cities. The German Equestrian Association also reports that the horse economy in Germany generates a sales of 6.7 billion euros.
