Aalen: Glass fiber expansion in Waldhausen and Fachsenfeld is missing!

In Aalen, dissatisfaction is bubbling! The districts of Fachsenfeld and Waldhausen are facing a bitter setback in fiber optic expansion. CDU City Councilor Nadine Patzelt left no doubt in the recent meeting of the Cultural, Education and Finance Committee (KBFA) that the situation is unacceptable for citizens. "No fiber optic expansion in sight - that's a slap in the face for the residents!" so patzelt. The disappointment is great because the citizens feel abandoned by the promises of the telecommunications provider TNG.

The private provider TNG originally announced that it would invest 57 million euros in the expansion of broadband supply in Aalen. Managing Director Bernd Sontheimer promised at the groundbreaking ceremony in September to equip the city with a future -proof fiber optic network. But now it becomes clear: Fachsenfeld and Waldhausen fall through the net! Sontheimer recently explained in the local councils that economic reasons prevent expansion in these districts. Above all, the small number of potential connections in the areas mainly characterized by individual houses makes the investment unattractive.

The search for solutions

The Aalen CDU parliamentary group is alarmed and demands alternatives. "The contract with TNG was signed with the provision of a nationwide expansion," emphasized Patzelt. Mayor Frederick Brütting sees several options: either TNG is convinced of the urgency, or the city has to win another operator. "We could also become active ourselves and use funding," added Brütting. The uncertainty among the citizens is growing, and Green City Councilor Ralf Meiser called for an info portal to inform people about the current state of expansion. "Inquiries are piling up, the uncertainty is great," says Meiser.

Brütting assured that the city would continue to contact TNG. "We have found that conversations are possible." But the question remains: Will there be fast internet for Fachsenfeld and Waldhausen soon? The citizens are excited and hope for a positive turn in this unsatisfactory situation.
