Master Agricultural Sciences: Now with training courses on the advisory and transformation professional

The University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart is expanding its master's degree in agricultural sciences by two unique disciplines: "Advisory and Innovation Services in Agri-Food Systems" and "Transformation Management for Sustainability in Agri-Food Systems". These English-speaking fields are intended to specifically train advisory and transformation professionals for the necessary change in agriculture and offer the graduates interesting job prospects.

Agriculture worldwide is in profound change in which landscape, environmental and resource protection are among the most important tasks of the future. Although agricultural knowledge is impressive worldwide, its spread and application lags behind. Therefore, in the future, advisory and transformation specialists will be asked who will have extensive knowledge of the diverse interdisciplinary relationships and can help shape the transformation of the agricultural sector to more sustainability.

The Master's degree in agricultural sciences at the University of Hohenheim offers the best conditions for this with its variety of specialist areas, scientists and projects. The two new disciplines "Advisory and Innovation Services in Agri-Food Systems" and "Transformation Management for Sustainability in Agri-Food Systems" should convey specific specialist knowledge and skills to the students in order to prepare them for their future professional fields.

Advisory and Innovation Services in Agri-Food Systems:
In this specialty, the students learn to combine practical specialist knowledge from agricultural production, agricultural economics and/or agricultural technology with social science skills and skills. For example, they deal with consulting services to support innovation processes in agriculture. Cooperation with nature conservation players to improve biodiversity advice is also examined.

Transformation Management for Sustainability in Agri-Food Systems:
This specialty focuses on training specialists who can help shape the transformation process towards more sustainability in various areas of the agricultural and nutrition sector. Students learn to implement innovative solutions for a sustainable future and receive theoretical knowledge of social and institutional change processes. You have the option of largely choosing your modules yourself and are supported by reflection days to rethink your goals and skills.

The graduates of both disciplines open up a variety of career opportunities in the agricultural sector and in the food industry. They can work in advisory and service companies, in public administration, in companies along the agricultural and nutritional value chains, in cooperatives or in organizations of international cooperation and development.

The University of Hohenheim emphasizes that the fields of study are aimed at a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences or horticulture, since basic knowledge in these areas is necessary for the advice of agricultural companies.

With the new fields, the University of Hohenheim is expanding its offer in the field of agricultural sciences and helps to meet the challenges of sustainable agriculture.
