Refurbishment of the dilapidated rain overflow basins: 4.2 million euros for Laichingen!

Laichingen, Deutschland - In Laichingen, a comprehensive renovation project for the dilapidated rain overflow basins (Rüb) is tackled, which costs a whopping 4.2 million euros. The building fabric of the pelvis is badly damaged and the concrete covering no longer meets the minimum requirements. Visible building damage can be seen in many places, which underlines the urgency of the measures. The work is to be advertised this year, with the award at the municipal council meeting in February 2025. href = "https://www.schwaebische.de/regional/ulm-alb-donau/laichingen/laichingen-sanierte--saniertebeckenflaufbecken-fuer 4-millione-euro-3069538?womort=ALB-DONAU-KREIS" Rel = "NOFOLLOW NORFERER NOOPENER" TARGET = "_ Blank"> Swabian Zeitung reported.

The renovation work not only includes the two rain overflow basins, but also the access, channel, separation structures and the inlet of the sewage treatment plant. The sand and fat truss is also being renovated. A geological assessment has shown that the two 15 to 20 meter deep ground cases between the rübs I and II have to be filled. The city has already commissioned the engineering office BWN civil engineering to plan the renovation work.

urgent need for action

The systems date from the 1970s and 1980s, which makes the need to renovate even clearer. Christopher Petznick, clerk for deep and road construction, explained that the covering was already too low at the time and did not meet the state of the art. The impressive photo documentation of the damage also frightened the municipal councils, as Bernhard Schweizer (Lab) noted. The high costs of 4.2 million euros raise questions because they could ultimately be flipped to the citizens.

The water law permission for the initiation of pretreated wastewater from the rain load systems in the groundwater was granted by the Alb-Donau district district office until December 31, 2034. The required renovation measures are listed in the requirements, which are prioritized in different time frames. The city administration has submitted planning documents for the retrofitting of fine screen rakes and slats as well as the modernization of the rain overflow pools and filter pools, as the Swabian Zeitung further reported.

In the 2024 business plan, 70,000 euros are planned for wastewater disposal, and in addition, for the years 2025 and 2026, commitment authorizations of EUR 3,930,000 are planned. A cost calculation has already resulted in a price increase of around 5 percent, which is why an additional 200,000 euros are required for the next two years. This sum also takes into account provisions due to the critical building ground and the partially unknown building state.
