Mediterranean flair in Tübingen: Umbrisch-Provenzalische Markt attracts!

Exotic delicacies from the south of Europe have a firm grip on the old town of Tübingen until Sunday. The Umbrisch-Provenzalische Markt, which has a long tradition, not only attracts gourmets, but also simply curious people who want to immerse themselves in the Mediterranean flair. With 77 providers who offer their goods from the Italian region of Umbria and French Provence, there is plenty of variety. The offer ranges from hearty fried suckling pig to fragrant lavender soaps that bring a piece of vacation to Tübingen. The opening on Wednesday was well attended by visitors and the anticipation for the delicacies increased the mood.

The old town turns into a festival of the flavors. When visitors stroll through the alleys, they flatter fragrances of fresh herbs such as rosemary and thyme while trying delicious goat and sheep's cheese. Especially for buyers who come with friends or family, the visit becomes a social event. Many have their favorite stands, to which they keep returning and maintain their firm habits. of the market culinary highlights

A highlight are undoubtedly the food stalls. The colorful macarons, which are offered in all conceivable colors, are particularly popular with the sweet sweet tooth. The selection of delicious cheeses and traditional Italian cantuccini makes the decision as to which treats you want to try. The prices are somewhat higher than in everyday life, but most guests feel this surcharge than justified. You can even bring your own glasses for a refreshing French or Italian wine to maximize the pleasure.

The joy of the market is shared by the providers. Many dealers come from the region's partner cities, such as Perugia and Aix-en-Provence, and not only bring their products with them, but also their passion for good food and craft. The Tübingen appreciate this close connection to the Mediterranean culture and the opportunity to buy directly from the producer.

Experience artistic craft

Not only for gourmet lovers, the market has something to offer. Artisanal products are also very popular. Visitors can find hand -covered cups here, individually framed paintings and much more. With 21 stands from Provence and the same number from Umbria, colorful, creative work from both regions is presented. This mix of culinary and handicrafts makes the event particularly diverse and addresses people of all ages.

On Saturday, the little visitors can look forward to an interesting program. In addition to a skateboard workshop, a children's flea market and drum courses are also available. And to make it easier for visitors to travel, the Tübus drives free of charge that day. Then on Sunday it will be sporty: the runners meander through the old town during the city run, and the route leads directly through the market. This still makes it possible for visitors to enjoy the treats, even if they have to accept small detours. Many shops in Tübingen are also open on this day from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Despite the repeated rain shower, the mood of market visitors remains undisturbed. The weather does not seem to be an obstacle to explore the diversity and specialties of the market. Mayor Boris Palmer gave the official starting shot for the opening, and at the stands, almost as if it were the most beautiful in the world, small snakes. Food stands and craftsmanship offer a successful change to everyday life and are therefore very popular in the damp air. The edible journey through the Mediterranean regions of Europe is still an unforgettable experience for all Tübingen and visitors.
