Exam celebration 2024: 170 graduates start with practical experience in the Stuttgart Clinic
Yesterday 170 freshly, examined specialists from various health professions in the Stuttgart town hall celebrated their graduation at the Academy for Health Professions in the Stuttgart Clinic. Among the graduates are nurses, midwives and medical technologists. The training was strongly practice-oriented, which enables graduates to start their new professional roles in the largest hospital in Baden-Württemberg immediately. Stuttgart's mayor Thomas Fuhrmann praised the importance of these specialists for the health care of the city.
The Stuttgart Clinic has put a special focus on practical training. Last year, the trainees take responsibility for an entire ward, which optimally prepares them for their later activities. Oliver Hommel, the nursing director of the clinic, emphasizes the importance of practical experience, among other things through a simulation center that helps the future specialists practice in realistic scenarios. As part of the exam celebration, it was also announced that almost all graduates have accepted a takeover offer in nursing, which contributes decisively to patient care in the clinic.
The Stuttgart Clinic combines the Katharinenhospital, the Bad Cannstatt Hospital and the Olgahospital, the largest children's clinic in Germany. Every year, around 90,000 patients are cared for inpatient and over 600,000 outpatient. The emergency supply is also considerable, with over 100,000 emergencies treated per year.
For Stuttgart, the increase in qualified nursing staff has a direct impact on the quality of health care. At a time when the shortage of skilled workers in the healthcare system is a pressing topic, the training and integration of new specialists is not only important, but also essential. In Stuttgart, this is particularly relevant due to the steadily increasing demand for health services, which is due to the demographic development and growth of older patients.
Historically, the Stuttgart Clinic has a long tradition in patient care. In the summer of 2025, the new Katharinenhospital will open, which will offer the most modern infrastructures with structural investments of over 800 million euros. This investment not only underlines the ambitions of the clinic, but also the advanced health care in the region. Here is a table with some relevant key figures for the Stuttgart Clinic:

The positive news about the number of new specialists and their integration into the Stuttgart Clinic are therefore of great importance not only for the clinic itself, but also for the entire Stuttgart region.
