An important step for the future of the automotive industry in Friedrichshafen: On November 11th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new ZF logistics center fell! With an investment of 14.3 million euros, ZF Friedrichshafen AG, a leading supplier for the automotive and commercial industry, will initiate the construction work, which should be completed by the end of 2025. The new center will offer space for around 40 employees on an area of ​​3000 square meters. The location was strategically chosen to end the "parts tourism" and to ensure optimal supply of production with the required components. Dr. Jochen Witzig, location manager for the production areas, emphasizes the need for this measure for more efficient logistics. "The logistics center is a crucial step to redeem our promise to our employees and the region," he explains.

Prof. Dr. Peter Laier, board member of ZF, emphasizes that the new logistics center is not only financially, but also strategically a clear commitment to the Friedrichshafen location. "With the logistics center, we can optimize the material flow and factory logistics, it makes us more efficient and flexible," says Laier. Achim Dietrich, chairman of the works council, also sees the groundbreaking ceremony as a positive signal for the workforce in difficult times. "This investment fulfills an important part of the target image that has agreed the works council and management," he adds.

The construction of the ZF logistics center is part of a comprehensive three-phase plan that started the concept development as early as 2023. The highly automated and digitized processes of the new center are intended to revolutionize the work processes and ensure the future viability of the Friedrichshafen location.
