Baden-Württemberg's power motorway Suedlink: Start of construction in Grünsfeld!

In the northeast of Baden-Württemberg, the energy transition sets another important step in motion. The Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann will be present on Friday, the start of construction for a new section of Stromtrasse Suedlink. This official starting shot will be found in Grünsfeld, a municipality in the Main-Tauber district at 6:00 p.m.

The approval for this section of the route was granted by the Federal Network Agency on September 15th. The transmission system operator TransnetBW announced that building law now exists for two sections of the route, which means that the entire SuedLink route in Baden-Württemberg is approved. It is noteworthy that work on the southern section has been running since last year.

suedlink and its meaning

The Suedlink-Trasse is a central project for the transfer of green electricity from the wind-rich north to the energy-hungry regions of southern Germany. This direct current-operated line will extend a total of about 700 kilometers, from Brunsbüttel in Schleswig-Holstein to Lingarten in the Heilbronn district. The completion and commissioning of the route is planned for the end of 2028.

The construction of this line is not just a technical undertaking; It is also part of the larger strategy to promote the energy transition in Germany. By connecting the renewable energy sources in the north to the consumption centers in the south, top loads are to be met and the security of supply is increased.

TransnetBW informs that the Suedlink route represents a streamy motorway in the federal territory that should help promote the use of regenerative energies and reduce the dependency on fossil fuels.
