Kretschmann and the Greens: Where is the change of course in the crisis?
In the political landscape of Baden-Württemberg there is currently a lot of movement, especially among the Greens. Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann once led the party to 30 percent flights of height and put it in first place in the country. But the mood has changed. Critical voices, such as those of the weekly newspaper "Zeit", indicate that the course of the Greens, known as "Habeckism", failed. This trend can also be transferred to Kretschmann, whose once positive rhetoric can hardly be seen in the recent criticism.
The Green Party has increasingly dealt with questions of symbolic policy that it once vehemently criticized. The change from the People's Party to the Orientation Party is noticeable. Kretschmann once announced that the Greens would offer the answers to the country's major challenges. However, since the resignation of the federal chairman and the resignation in youth, the party has become more and more a problem and a necessary realignment.
public perception and party criticism
At the beginning of the week, the ARD presenter Caren Miosga tried to get a critical self-reflection in a talk show, Green top candidate Omid Nouripour. Nouripour admitted that the party reacted far too late to the “stupid rumors” that were circulating about its supposed bans. He admitted that there was no resistance.
With the increasing "Green Bashing", criticism of the party seems to have become socially acceptable. CSU boss Markus Söder takes the opportunity to compete against the Greens. The accusation that the Greens are stubborn or patronizing has solidified in the media, although the party was quite willing to compromise in its government work. Since the traffic light coalition took office, numerous, partly controversial decisions such as support for LNG terminals or arms deliveries to Ukraine have had to be made.
In view of the intensive criticism and political pressure,the new leadership of the Greens hopes for a turn that is similar to the successful KPÖ in Austria. CSU general secretary Martin Huber took the election in Austria as an opportunity to analyze the risks of the black and green coalition, and warns of an upswing for extremist forces and a weakening of the bourgeois center.
In the discussion about the future of the party, however, it turns out that this course does not only depend on political rhetoric. Left green young politicians are looking for paths to imitate the positive development of an alternative, left -wing movement, while there is a need to deal more intensively with social justice issues, combat poverty and the challenges of the housing market.
The political situation remains tense and it remains to be seen how the Greens will react to the current challenges. You can find more information on the topic at www.kontextwochenzeitung.de .
