New regional lines in Baden-Württemberg: better local transport for everyone!
The Regiobus network in Baden-Württemberg is expanded by three new lines, which increases the network to a total of 49 lines. This expansion is part of the efforts to improve local transport, especially in rural areas and to close gaps in the transport network.
The new international regional bus line connects Lörrach with the EuroAirport in Saint-Louis, Alsace. This route leads over the Franco-German border near Weil am Rhein and is 20 kilometers long. The regular operation of this line began on December 15th and provides for trips from 5 a.m. to midnight on weekdays from 6 a.m. to midnight and on Sundays from 7 a.m. to midnight, with a half -hourly time during the main traffic times of the airport.
New connections between important cities
In addition, a new bus line between Herrenberg (Böblingen district) and Calw starts on New Year. This 23 -kilometer route has a travel time of 39 minutes and also offers trips from 5 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and from 6 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays and from 7 a.m. to midnight.
A third line will connect Welzheim (Rems-Murr-Kreis) to the S-Bahn network of the Stuttgart metropolitan region. This connection will be put into operation from August 1, 2025 and stipulates that the buses run with the S-Bahn at least every half hour, even every 15 minutes in rush hours. The route is 16 kilometers long and has a travel time of 26 minutes.
The new regional lines receive funding from the Ministry of Transport, which this year provides a total of 29 million euros to support municipalities and counties. This financing measure also includes the further operation of seven existing lines.
Transport Minister Winfried Hermann emphasized that these measures in particular connect places without a direct rail connection to train traffic. Overall, the RegioBus network in Baden-Württemberg will grow to around 1,300 kilometers and offers a high quality standard with air conditioning systems, entry-level and exit aids as well as WLAN and USB sockets on the buses.
