Halemba remains in the AfD for the time being: Party exclusion procedure failed

In the current political events in Bavaria, an interesting turn has arisen for the controversial AfD politician Daniel Halemba. Despite the efforts of the federal leadership of the alternative for Germany (AfD) to exclude it from the party, Halemba remains a member for the time being. This decision follows a party exclusion procedure that went out to a comparison, such as the regional main-post reported in Würzburg.

The spokesman for the party announced that Halemba is excluded by official offices for a period of 18 months. In concrete terms, the 23-year-old immediately loses his offices. However, the Federal Executive Board has the option of revoking this comparison by October 26, 2024, which is a temporary setback for Halemba, but at least ensures that he is currently members of the party.

Investigations and party allegations

Halemba, who has been in the Bavarian state parliament since October 2023, is currently faced with various serious allegations. The public prosecutor has started investigations, and he is accused of sedition, money laundering, community coercion and property damage. Halemba reacted to these allegations with the claim that he had nothing to reproach himself and was confident that he had not made himself punishable.

The politically tense status of Halemba could have both positive and negative consequences for his career. His bond to the AfD has been back since 2019 when he became a member for the first time. In the following years he rapidly rose within the hierarchies of his party and currently occupied several positions, including those of the district chairman of the AfD in Würzburg and member of the district board of the AfD Lower Franconia since 2020.
