Water chaos in Berlin: after breaking the Rohrbruch - return to normality!

in Berlin there was a massive water pipe break on New Year's Eve, which significantly damaged the water supply in several parts of the city. Affected areas included Wedding, Moabit, Charlottenburg, Wilmersdorf, Schöneberg, Kreuzberg, Prenzlauer Berg, Frohnau and Mitte. This meant that in parts of the city the water pressure failed temporarily, which left numerous households without water.

The Berlin water companies informed about their online service X about their incident. The Rohrbruch occurred in Seestrasse in the Wedding district, which led to a massive disorder. The fire brigade asked the population to refrain from emergency calls for the break, since the extinguishing water supply was also affected. In order to be able to react to possible emergencies, the emergency services use reserves in tanker vehicles.

water supply is restored

After the water pressure in the affected districts started to rise again from around 8:55 p.m., a spokeswoman for Berlin water companies said that all households should be supplied with water again until midnight. The damaged line was also delayed to increase the water pressure in other lines and to stabilize the situation. According to the first feedback, the supply began to rebuild itself gradually. As a result, more and more households were able to access water again.

The developments have been pursued intensively in the past few hours, while the technicians were working on restoring the care as soon as possible. Information about the progress of the work was continuously provided by the Berlin water operations in order to inform the affected population about the return to normality.
