Experience-learning truck in Stuttgart: Digitization, IoT & KI experience up close!
In Stuttgart, the "Expedition D" initiative will take part in two important events with an experience-learning truck in the coming week: on October 8th and 9th at the Messe Quantum Effects and on October 10th and 11th during the Stuttgart science festival. The aim of the initiative is to inform young people about the digital transformation and their effects on various job profiles. School classes and the public are invited to explore digital technologies and to understand their relevance in the world of work.
The events take place against the background of progressive digitization, which is becoming increasingly relevant, especially in Stuttgart, an important business location. Stuttgart is considered the center for innovative strength, especially in the automotive industry and mechanical engineering, two sectors that are decisively shaped by digital technologies such as IoT (Internet of Things), KI (artificial intelligence) and big data.
In order to illustrate the local context, it is interesting to know that Baden-Württemberg in 2023 complains a shortage of skilled workers, especially in the technical and IT area. According to the Institute for Labor Market and Vocational Research (IAB), more than 200,000 specialists in these areas could be missing by 2026. The "Expedition D" initiative has the goal of counteracting this defect by delighting young people for technology and digital skills.
The initiative is supported by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation, the Südwestmetall employers' association and the Baden-Württemberg Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency and is part of the Coaching4future education program. So -called "digital coaches" accompany the students through the truck and thus promote understanding of digital technologies in a practical environment.

This should also illustrate which technologies will be decisive in the future and how the youth can be actively integrated in this transformation. The interactive formats of the experience-learning truck offer the participants the opportunity to learn about digital tools and their use in the professional world.
In the past,Stuttgart has often shown how important education and technology integration are for economic development. These events offer a valuable platform to raise awareness of the digital future and prepare the following generations for it.
