Telekom will roll out the fiber optic network in the Berglen municipality, which enables around 1,500 households to be able to access this new network. The first customers in Berglen can already surf at a speed of 1,000 megabits per second (1 GBit/s). The fiber optic tariffs of Telekom are not more expensive than current DSL tariffs. Customers who do not yet have a house connection can receive it free of charge if they book a fiber optic tariff at Telekom. A market research study has shown that most customers do not switch to a fiber optic connection because they do not know that it is available. For this reason, sales employees will advise households on behalf of Telekom in the coming weeks in Berglen and inform them about the switch to fiber optic.
