MINT vocational perspectives for young people: Coaching4future in Heidelberg-Mannheim 2024
The educational program Coaching4future will be held in autumn 2024 at three schools in the Heidelberg-Mannheim area to help young people in career orientation in the MINT subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology). On the appointments 22./23. October in Brühl, 19./20. November in Ladenburg and 28./29. November in Eppelheim, tech coaches provide information about training and study opportunities. Interactive workshops and lectures should offer students a practical insight into the diverse professions and technologies of the MINT disciplines.
The project has a significant local relevance, since Baden-Württemberg is one of the leading federal states in industry and technology. The lack of specialists in MINT professions is a central problem for the regional economy. According to a study by the Heilbronn-Franken IHK, many companies are looking for suitable young people. Events such as Coaching4future help to reduce the gap between schools and industry and to sensitize young people to technical professions.
Baden-Württemberg has a long tradition in MINT training. Historically, the universities in Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Mannheim played an outstanding role in the training of engineers and natural scientists. The region is also Home to Several Global Leading Companies in Sectors Such as Automotive, Machinery and IT. These industries are not only important for economic stability, but also offer diverse and attractive career opportunities for young people.
The following table shows an overview of the upcoming dates for the Coaching4Future events:
