Telekom strengthens mobile network in mountain hollows: New location and improved bandwidth

On October 30, 2024, Telekom announced that it had completed a new mobile phone location in Berghülen. This expansion contributes to improving mobile phone supply in the region: The coverage is increased via the newly built infrastructure, the bandwidth enlarged and the reception in buildings is optimized. The need for such measures results from the steadily increasing demand for data volume, which is currently increasing by around 30 percent per year. Telekom plans to expand the number of mobile phone locations in the Alb-Donau district by 2026 to a total of 114, which takes into account the growing use of mobile data.

The recourse to modern mobile phone technologies is of central importance for both private individuals and companies. At a time when home office and digital communication are more and more part of everyday life, reliable network coverage becomes indispensable. This applies in particular in rural regions such as mountain hollows, in which there is often inadequate network coverage. With the new location, Telekom wants to ensure that residents and companies in this area can also benefit from digitization. The 97 percent budget coverage in the district already illustrates that considerable progress has been made in recent years.

An outlook on the planned extensions shows that Telekom not only focuses on improvements in mountain hollows, but also in other areas of the Alb-Donau district. There are currently 81 mobile communications locations in the district, with an increase to 114 locations planned by 2026. Extensions with LTE or 5G are already in preparation at another 51 locations. This could mean a significant upswing for the local economy, since small and medium-sized companies are strengthened by improved mobile connections.

Cooperation with municipalities and property owners is of crucial importance for the quick expansion. Citizens who can provide space to space have the option of contacting the German radio tower company, which is responsible for building up the mobile phone locations. This could be particularly interested in the more rural regions, where space potential for the construction of mobile phone masts is sufficient, but often remain unused.

In summary, it becomes clear that the mobile phone expansion not only represents a technical necessity, but also has social and economic effects. It promotes digital infrastructures that are essential for the development of education, health and local companies. Technological progress in mountain hollows could thus show far -reaching positive effects in the coming years.
