How to learn to run robots: make coaches in Stuttgart playfully desire for technology professions

The educational program Coaching4future will attend the Schloss Realschule in Stuttgart on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 9th and 10th to give students an insight into important social future issues and thus linked job profiles. Coaching4future provides information about training and study routes in the MINT disciplines (mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology) and offers an entertaining hands-on lecture, experimental workshops on topics such as robotics or environmental protection and technology.

The coaching4future program has existed since 2008 and is traveling at secondary schools in Baden-Württemberg. The skilled workers in technical and scientific professions are already great and will be even bigger in the coming years. Baden-Württemberg with its industrial and high-tech companies in particular is affected by this shortage of skilled workers. The educational program is intended to show young people at an early stage the professional perspectives in the MINT area and help them with professional orientation.

The coaches Katharina Prager and Cornelia Mattern will give an interactive lecture and present technical exhibits to the students to touch and try out. The topics for the interactive lecture are selected by the school classes themselves and range from machines and robots to living and mobility of the future to medicine, lifestyle and environmental protection. Furthermore, the basic principles of robotics are conveyed and various robots are built to show how they learn to “see” or “to walk”.
