The decentralized identity service based on kilt gives consumers back control
bte botlabs trusted entity GmbH (BTE) today gave the start of known socialkyc , a decentralized identity service to regain control of your digital data based on the kilt protocol. BTE is a subsidiary of Botlabs GmbH, the original developer of Kilt, which became the first fully decentralized identity blockchain in the Polkadot ecosystem in November 2021.
Together with Sporran (the Kilt Brief bag), socialkyc users enable users to manage, save and display their personal access data so that you can select the elements of your private information online services. Socialkyc exhibits users that confirm the possession of your email address or your social media account after the user has proven that he controls the account.
KYC or "Know your Customer" is common practice when opening an account with a bank or stock exchange, in which users have to prove that they have issues issued by the government such as a passport. Socialkyc gives the user the opportunity to expand the trust in a similar way with its social accounts and to build a digital identity that can be used on the Internet without involving the traditional KYC.
How it works:
- socialkyc initially sends the user a simple task to check his control over a certain account.
- After successful examination, Socialkyc issues the user a proof of authorization that remains under his full control. The proof of authorization indicates the property or control of the specific account.
- This personal data is not saved or passed on by Socialkyc. It remains in the user's wallet on his personal device under his full control.
- The user can then submit these access data to any online service that you accept when and how he wants.
- users can also publish one or more of their access data so that they are accessible to everyone. Published access data can be reversed by the user at any time.
"In contrast to previous registration procedures on the Internet, Socialkyc forgets the user and the access data as soon as the access data is issued. This prevents your personal data from being shared, sold or" monetized "without your knowledge or benefits, said Ingo Rübe, founder of Kilt Protocol and CEO from Botlabs GmbH. Mortar up to metaverse there are opportunities for socialky use cases wherever social trust is needed. "
To set up socialkyc, a user would first create his kilt identity sporran Kilt-Blockchain was developed. Sporran serves as a wallet for kilt coins and kilt registration information so that users manage several identities, create on-chain-dids (decentralized identifiers) for you and then add verifiable registration information to the did.
Here you will find step-by-step instructions for the setup Sporran and Socialkyc .
In addition to email and Twitter, access data will soon be available for social platforms such as Discord, Github, Twitch and others on socialkyc. Future applications for socialKYC registration information could include games, e-sports leagues, healthcare, science, media and decentralized social networks.
