Ton Application Chain and Polygon Labs cooperate for sound L2

  • tac and polygon labs work together to bring EVM compatible dapps to sound.
  • Integration increases the DAPP access within Telegram and increases the number of real applications.
  • Despite the success, increasing phishing attacks are a danger to user security in the tone network.

The TON Application Chain (TAC) and Polygon Labs have announced a groundbreaking partnership that aims to expand the sound ecosystem with a new Layer 2 (L2) solution.

This cooperation promises to equip sound with the functionality of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and thus to expand the range of decentralized applications available to the users.

The new L2 will have EVM compatibility and an extended dapp ecosystem

According to the announcement of the cooperation, Polygon CDK and the interoperability protocol Agglayer are integrated into the new TON L2. This strategic step is intended to insert EVM-compatible DAPPS into the TAC and thus significantly expand the area of application for the users of the TON network.

The most important areas on which the new L2 chain will concentrate are decentralized finances (defi), gaming and identity solutions.

PAVEL Alkhov, CEO of TAC, emphasized the importance of this integration and explained that it improves its ability to close the gap between the sound and Ethereum ecosystems.

Alukhov also explained that Ethereum developers can now achieve a large user base by using applications such as wallet within Telegram, which facilitates the implementation of real crypto applications.

Integration is intended to significantly improve the DAPP integration in Telegram, one of the most popular messaging platforms worldwide.

With the new EVM-compatible level, developers can create and provide a wide range of Dapps and provide them with telegram users seamlessly. This opens up numerous options, from defi applications and games to decentralized identity solutions, and thus promotes innovation and acceptance within the sound ecosystem.

sound records a significant increase in user activity

Even before the announced cooperation, the number of daily active addresses in the sound network in June exceeded that of Ethereum, as can be seen from a study of July 6th. Post from Messari on X.

This activity thrust underlines the growing interest and commitment within the sound community. Despite the positive dynamics, the chain ecosystem was not without challenges. The most recent success was accompanied by an increase in phishing attacks.

On June 24th, Yu Xian, founder of Slowmist, warned that the Telegram ecosystem was "too free" and thus represent a fertile soil for phishing links that would be spread via news groups, airdrops and other fraudulent methods.

The increased phishing risk is particularly worrying for users with anonymous numbers that are not linked to a SIM card, since these accounts can be easily compromised by malicious actors.

Since Telegram was able to count around 196 million active users daily and 800 million active users per month in April, the guarantee of user security continues to be a top priority.
